If you’re looking for a luxury escape in Far North Queensland, Niramaya Villas and Spa is one of the most peaceful and visually striking places to stay in Port Douglas. Set just minutes from Four Mile Beach, this Balinese-inspired resort feels like a private sanctuary surrounded by tropical gardens and open water. I’ve stayed here twice now in Port Douglas and it more like your own private retreat than a hotel!

A must visit spot on a road trip from Cairns to Port Douglas.

Location & First Impressions

Located just 5 – 10 minutes from Four Mile Beach and Port Douglas town centre

Niramaya Villas and Spa is located just outside the centre of Port Douglas, giving it a secluded feel while still being only a short drive from Four Mile Beach, the marina, and local restaurants.

The location works really well — you get easy access to everything in Port Douglas, but can retreat back to total privacy and quiet once you’re inside the resort.

When we arrived, the tone was set immediately with palm trees, wide stone paths, tropical gardens, lotus ponds, and water features. It feels super open, spacious, and like your immediately on holiday!

Check-in is quick and easy, and wait til you check out the view from balcony over the pool… it’s lush!

The Villas: Private & Spacious

Niramaya Villas and Spa offers 1 to 5-bedroom private, self-catered villas, making it ideal for couples, families, or groups travelling together.

Each villa is completely private, with its own plunge pool, open-plan living spaces, and seamless indoor-outdoor flow that brings the tropical surroundings into every part of your stay.

Key highlights:

  • Private plunge pool surrounded by greenery

  • Large open-plan lounge and fully equipped kitchen

  • Outdoor dining, Weber BBQ and lounging spaces + outdoor showers

  • Private car garage

  • Balinese-inspired architecture and natural materials

  • Spacious bedrooms with garden or water views

It’s designed for relaxed, independent living, they are fully self-catered and allow you settle into your own space without needing to leave the villa to be honest.

The Spa & Facilities

Large resort pool; Nirayama Villas & Spa

The resort spa is designed around relaxation and wellness, offering a range of treatments that fit the overall tone of the property.

Facilities include:

  • Large resort-style lagoon pool

  • Tennis court

  • Gym (Decent sized; includes treadmill, bike, free weights, benches & towels, water supplied)

  • Day spa treatments and massages

  • Yoga and wellness spaces (seasonal availability)

Even just walking through the grounds feels so therapeutic; the landscaping is one of the strongest features of the resort!

Atmosphere

Unlike busier resorts, Niramaya Villas and Spa leans into privacy, making it ideal for couples retreats, honeymoons, or even families. The staff were excellent throughout our stay. We had zero issues at all — from requesting robes and having them delivered so quick, to asking for housekeeping and coming back to a completely reset villa in the morning. You’re greeted everywhere you go, it just makes for a top experience.

Food & Dining

Niramaya Villas and Spa has an onsite dining option at San-ti Indonesian Restaurant & Bar, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with happy hour drinks in a relaxed setting. Nothing beats a Pina Colada at happy hour!

Other options:

  • Self-cater in your villa

  • Enjoy all dining and beverages in the comfort of your own villa through in-room service

  • Explore dining in Port Douglas (a short drive away)

  • Book private chef experiences (available on request)

This mix of options gives you flexibility between dining in the villa, onsite, or in town.

Is It Worth It?

If you’re expecting a high-energy resort, this isn’t it.

Niramaya Villas and Spa is much more about privacy, design-led luxury and space to unwind in a tropical setting. It’s quiet, beautifully designed, and incredibly relaxing… we did 2 nights and did not want to leave. It was honestly the perfect weekend away.

For a luxury stay in Port Douglas that feels like your own private tropical hideaway, it’s easily one of the top options in Far North Queensland!
